Information You Submit
A name, location, or other term entered in a search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates the search. This site does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider's own policy controls its handling of a submitted query.
If you send an email or contact message, we keep the information needed to read and answer it. A message is not shared outside the organization unless doing so is required by law.
Automatic Technical Details
Routine technical records may be created when a browser loads a page. Those records can include:
- the visitor's IP address;
- browser name and version;
- device type and operating system;
- pages visited and time spent on them;
- the referring website, when supplied; and
- the date and time of a request.
Cookies may help show how visitors use the site. Browser controls can reject or remove cookies, although some features may then work differently.
How Data Supports the Site
Collected data may be used to keep pages available, route a search to the correct partner, understand which resources are useful, diagnose technical errors, and display advertising that may relate to a visitor's interests. These uses do not turn this site into the custodian of an Appomattox Sheriff, BRRJA, VADOC, court, or federal record.
Links Beyond Our Pages
Links may lead to release records, government portals, Sheriff or corrections pages, courts, federal locators, and outside search services. Once a visitor follows one, the destination's privacy terms apply. Advertising partners may also use their own systems to measure activity across websites or select interest-based ads.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited information may be handled by:
- search partners that process a query;
- analytics providers that measure site use;
- advertising networks that deliver or measure ads; and
- law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order.
Reasonable Security Measures
Standard safeguards are used to protect information under our control. No internet connection, server, or storage method is completely secure, so this notice cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Visitors Under Eighteen
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Contact Us page to request deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and the nature of the data held, a visitor may ask for a copy of personal information, request correction of inaccurate data, seek deletion, or object to certain processing. Send a focused request through Contact Us. Browser controls can also limit cookies, and advertising providers may offer separate opt-out tools.
Changes to This Notice
This privacy notice may be revised as site practices or legal requirements change. A revised version becomes effective when posted here with its updated effective date.
Effective date: August 8, 2026.
